The new year is a time for new fascinations, it's time for a new collection of the QΠШ ROBERT KUPISZ brand for the AW 22/23 season with the significant name ICONS. A collection full of contrasts typical of the brand, a must-have for every street fashion enthusiast, in which once again the stories and archetypes we know are presented in the designer's modern approach.
"I was inspired to create the collection by the extremely colorful life of the prima ballerina Anna Pawłowa, who went down in history thanks to her interpretation of the role of The Dying Swan," says Robert Kupisz. “The ICONS collection is not only about the iconic dance art of ballet. Orthodox art played an equally important role in creating the collection, inspiring me to create prints and use gilding, characteristic of this artistic process, unique both in terms of craftsmanship and spirituality. That's why ICONS is a clash of tradition and modernity, an interpretation of period costumes, translated into the language of contemporary street fashion. – adds the designer.
As always, the vast majority of clothes have universal cuts, emphasizing the brand's message about no divisions. The designs included the brand's characteristic cotton T-shirts, thick sweatshirts and trousers, characteristic jeans made of thick, ecologically dyed denim, and oversized shirts - flannel with a blue and brown check pattern, airy with strong prints of seraphim and medals, and oversize' these classics made of translucent etamine. The winter collection included jackets and vests as well as simple, irreplaceable woolen coats. It is worth mentioning that the collection was entirely made in Poland, from environmentally friendly materials - the certificates include GOTS, ECOVERO and OEKO-TEX.
A characteristic feature of the collection are strong, non-uniform gold and silver plating of materials, which emphasize their structure and add shine to denim trousers, blouses and shirts.
In addition to the immortal black and the entire range of gray - from light, illuminating shades, through dark, graphite colors, to the flagship patterns dyed with the tie dye method characteristic of the brand, the collection is dominated by subdued, subdued colors - brown, burgundy and petrol, i.e. blue with shades of sea greenery.
The classic polka dots pattern has also been reinterpreted - according to the Designer, it reminds us of snowflakes swirling against the background of the night city sky. In contrast, we received prints depicting images of seraphim and gold and silver plating of materials, which, combined with military motifs, paints before our eyes an image of power, wealth and style in full bloom.
The photo session by Agata Serge is as theatrical and nostalgic as the ICONS collection - the play with chiaroscuro emphasizes the weave and gilding of materials, and the styling takes us to another, mysterious reality. The backgrounds and custom-made frames specially prepared for the session bring to mind the interiors of theaters and the mystical atmosphere of church buildings.
The photos are complemented by a film by Paweł Grabowski from WOW PICTURES.
